Read this before you load anything
Loads that shift, straps that fail and hitches that are overloaded cause serious injury and death every year. Nothing on this site tells you what your equipment can safely carry, tow or secure. Confirm the rating stamped or labelled on the equipment itself, read the current manufacturer documentation, and follow the load securement rules that apply where you are driving. If you are unsure, consult the manufacturer, a qualified installer or a commercial vehicle inspector before you load.
Research-based, not tested
Load Cove is a research desk. Our coverage is built from manufacturer specifications, published documentation and standards, and verified owner reports. We do not test products in hand, we do not run load tests, pull tests or durability trials, and we do not personally use the equipment we write about.
No figure on this site should be read as a measurement we performed. Where a page shows a rating, capacity, dimension or class, it has been recorded from a named source type and it carries whatever accuracy that source has. Where something could not be verified, our pages say so rather than estimating.
Accuracy and currency
| Specifications change | Manufacturers revise capacities, materials and compatibility between model years and between markets, often without announcement. A figure that was correct when we recorded it may not be correct now. |
| Prices change | Any price mentioned is indicative only. The retailer’s listed price at the moment of purchase is the only price that counts. |
| Availability changes | Products are discontinued, renamed and re-released with different internals under the same model name. |
| Scores are editorial | Rankings and scores are our judgement formed from published sources. They are opinion, not measurement, and reasonable people can disagree with them. |
