Privacy policy
This policy explains what information Load Cove collects when you visit loadcove.com, why we collect it, who else can see it, and what you can do about it. We have written it in plain English because a privacy policy nobody can read protects nobody.
01 · Who this applies to
This policy covers loadcove.com and applies to everyone who visits, regardless of where you are. It does not cover any other website. Once you click a link that takes you to a retailer, a manufacturer or any other third party, you are on their site and their privacy policy governs what happens next.
By using this site you agree to the handling of information described here. If you do not agree, the appropriate response is to stop using the site.
02 · What we collect
Information you give us directly
If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you write in the message. If commenting is enabled and you leave a comment, we receive the name and email address you enter, your comment text, and your IP address. That is standard WordPress behaviour and it exists to catch spam.
We do not ask for and do not want your postal address, telephone number, date of birth, payment details or government identification. We never see your card details, because we do not sell anything.
Information collected automatically
Like almost every website, our hosting and analytics record technical information about your visit: the pages you view, the time and date, roughly how long you stay, the site or search engine that referred you, your browser and operating system, your device type, and an approximate location derived from your network connection. This is aggregate traffic data, not a profile with your name attached.
03 · How we use it
- To reply to your message, and to keep a record of that correspondence.
- To understand which guides people actually use, so we know what to write next and what to correct first.
- To keep the site working: diagnosing errors, blocking abuse, and defending against spam and automated attacks.
- To measure whether affiliate links are functioning, which is how the site is funded.
- To meet legal obligations where they apply to us.
We do not sell your data
We do not sell, rent, trade or otherwise share your personal information with anyone for money. We do not run a mailing list and we do not operate a newsletter, so we are not building a marketing database from your visit.
04 · Cookies and tracking
Cookies are small text files a site stores in your browser. We use them for analytics and for basic site function, and third parties we work with may set their own. You can block or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings; the site will still work, though some preferences will not persist.
A full breakdown of every category we use, and instructions for managing them in each major browser, is set out in our cookie policy.
05 · Third parties
| Web hosting | Our host stores the site’s files and database and keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses, for security and diagnostics. |
| Google Analytics 4 | Measures traffic and page performance. Analytics 4 does not log or store individual IP addresses, and we do not use it to identify individual visitors. |
| Amazon Associates | Our primary affiliate programme. When you follow one of our links to Amazon, Amazon records the referral and applies its own privacy policy from that point. |
| Other affiliate networks | We may join additional retailer or network programmes over time. Each operates its own tracking and its own privacy policy once you leave our site. |
We may also disclose information where we are legally required to, or where it is necessary to protect our rights, investigate fraud, or respond to a genuine safety concern.
How long we keep things
Email correspondence is kept for as long as it remains useful for handling your enquiry and any follow-up, and is then deleted. Comments and their metadata remain until the comment is removed. Analytics data is retained according to the retention window configured in Google Analytics. Server logs rotate on our host’s normal schedule.
Security and international transfer
The site is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection and we apply reasonable safeguards to the systems we control. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Our service providers may process data in the United States and other countries, which means information may be transferred outside the country where you live.
06 · Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to receive a copy of it, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent you previously gave.
Residents of California have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA, including the right to know what is collected, the right to deletion, the right to correction, and the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined, so there is nothing to opt out of, but the right to know and the right to deletion still apply.
Visitors in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom have equivalent rights under the GDPR and UK GDPR, including the right to lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority.
To exercise any of these, email hello@loadcove.com and describe what you want. We will respond within the timeframe the applicable law requires and we will not charge you for a reasonable request. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a deletion request.
07 · Children
This site is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, email us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We update this policy when our practices or the services we use change. The revision date at the top and bottom of this page always reflects the current version. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the revised policy.
